  • Labor Unions Still Matter
    Updated On: Aug 22, 2014

Recently the KC Star Magazine featured an interview of Greater Kansas City AFL-CIO President Pat "Duke" Dujakovich after being interviewed by KC Star reporter Cindy Hoedel and titled: President of Greater KC AFL-CIO says labor unions still matter.

Currently the Missouri Legislature is contemplating "Right to Work" and on its first vote by the Missouri House of Representatives the bill failed to have enough votes to make it out of the House and sent over to the Senate.  It is stalled with just 4 more weeks in this Legislative Session and no one is certain of what will happen if it comes back up for another vote.

Right to Work is wrong for Missouri and a recent report by the University of Missouri-Kansas City Economics Department warns about the overall financial burden it will bring to State and County governments by the lost of tax revenue due to lower wages.  Read the study by clicking here.
