  • Notary Class
    Updated On: Apr 09, 2017

There has been interest shown to hold another Notary Class.  If we get enough people signed up, we will be holding our next class on Tuesday, March 28th, 5:00 PM at the IAFF Local 42 Hall, 6320 Manchester Ave, KCMO.  There is an $80.00 fee for the class.

If you are interested in attending this class please contact Becky Capper at your earliest convenience if you would like to attend at the office 816.221.6163 or via E-mail: becky@kcaflcio.org.

    FAQ

    1. If you are a resident and a registered voter in Missouri, this class is tailored to you.  If you reside in Kansas, but work in Missouri, you can become a Notary Public but can use the commission only in your Missouri employment.  That is the primary reason why the effort is addressed to Missouri residents.

2.The fee for the class is $80.  This includes a $25 registration fee to the Missouri Secretary of State, a $40.00 fee for the Notary Bond, and a $15 cost to purchase a Notary Stamp.  The KCAFL-CIO will provide you with a bound, Notary Public book at no charge, along with all materials necessary for the course.  This is the least expensive method we believe can get you commissioned as a notary public.

    3. Anyone can apply on-line instead if you choose, through the Missouri Secretary of State.. The link is https://s1.sos.mo.gov/business/Notary/.

    4. The process is menu driven and you must register and take the test on-line.  You will need to secure a bond, stamp and permanent Notary Public book separately.  There are several entities which can compete for your business.

    5. The only way you can register is by contacting Becky Capper.
